If only I'd had a camera..

Envision this scenario....(use your imagination, 'kay?)

It's naptime.  Children are tucked in their beds... I think!  I'm furiously cleaning and mopping and such, finally put that broom away and I hear... clomp clomp clomp...

I dash up the stairs... open the three year old's bedroom door to find... sweet little Ronan is walking around with his toes jammed into his Build-A-Bear Darth Vader's black plastic boots.  He's trying to climb back in bed as he hears me coming - little boy halfway up into his bed, legs dangling... little black boots on his toes.  OH.  MY.  GALOSHES.  It was so hard not to laugh outright.

"Back in bed, my dear!"
"But mom, these are my bear's costume boots!".  Does that somehow explain why you are not napping?

Ahhh, kids... I'll forever have that hilarious image.  :)

Joyful Boy-full

Ready...

To Infinity and Beyond! he yells

Is there really more to life than the joy in a puddle?

There might be.

But don't tell this boy yet.

It's All Good...

I'm not all snark and almost-cursing on this blog. Really. Sometimes life is so perfectly humbling and beautiful, even when things have been less than easy. My little man is in the throes of the "terrible twos". He's sassy, he's frequently defiant and difficult, but he's sweet and gentle and he LOVES so much. Watching his little mind soak up the world around him, find his groove, discover who he is and learn his alphabet is QUITE the adventure. Sometimes the seas are rough, but I'm keeping my boat afloat.

And my littlest. A sweet little dream. And a tempest. She's learning the ropes on how to maneuver her way around her big brother. She's no shrinking violet around him, but when we're out, she's momma's girl. I can't say I don't LOVE having her sweet little hands balled up in my sweater, gripping the Ergo or wrapping her arms around my neck when she needs to feel secure. Don't worry, baby, we're not letting you go.

All Through the Night

And so, the drama surrounding the infamous "toddler bed debacle of 2010" has turned into not such a big deal. Perhaps it is due to the fact that an ear infection has slowed him down and sleep feels good and less of a waste of time? Or, perhaps he was just ready.

But am I? My baby, how did you get so big?

The END of an Era

Ever since he was ten months old, my son has been a dream sleeper. You could put him in his crib wide awake, say "night night" and he'd go to sleep. No tears, no muss, no fuss. Of course we had the occasional night waking due to a pacifier being missing and whatnot. But for the most part. Dream. Well, he figured out that he could climb out of his crib. It's over. The easy naps, the restful sleep. OVER. We are basically without choice in bringing in a toddler bed. Because we are awesome parents, we purchased an expensive "lifetime" crib. One that boasts Crib, toddler bed to eventual full sized bed for your little one. Oh, we had high hopes. Alas, when we moved to Wisconsin for the year we apparently left the crib to toddler bed conversion IN FLORIDA. Yeah... SO, our options are limited. Mattress on the floor or buy a freaking bed to make it through the next few months. I seriously want to bang my head on the wall.
